It’s tough to narrow down just 10 reasons our family loves living in Shakopee. With all the perks of a small town yet a growing urban community plus a recreation mecca, there is so much to offer residents in this community. Here are our favorites:

  1. Expanded Community Center: The remodeling of this building is a welcome addition for all ages with more Senior activities, meeting rooms, water park, and the additional ice rink.

  2. O’Brien's Public House: Urban Irish pub dining in historic downtown Shakopee. I love sitting outside on their patio with the river views. The food is great and ambiance is casual and welcoming.

  3. Stonebrooke Golf: I appreciate having a course of their caliber in our community. It is a great place to play, nice dining/patio and they host a numerous fundraising events for local organizations in Shakopee.

  4. Our school district: The teachers my children have had over the years have all been fabulous, the new Academies in the expanded high school are well planned, and the growth of the district is filled with opportunity and dedicated professionals to execute plans.

  5. River Valley Church: This community has provided a welcoming place for my family as well as hundreds of others to grow in our faith and foster relationships in a fun and casual environment.

  6. Police Department/Fire Department: We are so lucky to have a Police Department that fosters such a wonderful relationship with the community. I appreciate them for what they do beyond protecting our city.

  7. Shakopee Brew Hall/Badger Hill: These are two equally fantastic micro brew establishments that are fun to patronize and bring visitors to Shakopee.

  8. St Francis Hospital: We had all three of our children at St. Francis and received fantastic care. More recently, I’ve taken advantage of their Southbridge urgent care location and many love the ease of online check in to get in and out fast with friendly care.

  9. Bill’s Toggery – I greatly appreciate the history, service and value that Bill’s Toggery brings to our downtown. They deliver good ol’ personalized service, and they stock trending styles you’d have to shop an entire mall for.

  10. RE/MAX Advantage Plus: I feel honored to have spent my real estate career working with one brokerage that strives to give back and has strong ethical standards from the top down. Our broker owner, Eric Malmberg, has received the “Broker of the Year” award 4 times in the last 10 years as well as being listed in the “Top 100 Places to Work” in the Twin Cities.
